Check Your Motivations

I extend a BIG "thank you" to you today. Thank you for supporting and attending my shows, spreading the word, posting, sending notes of encouragement, buying the music and letting me know how each song impacts you. Thank YOU!

Now pinch me! 2015 was unreal and I owe it all to God. Because on December 31, 2014, I was confused, frustrated and hopeless. I was not "feeling" the impending New Year which was only a couple of hours around the corner. You see, I have such big dreams for my life that at times I'm challenged to know where or even how to begin. Let's call it "promissory paralysis". Ever felt it? Well, a deep conversation initiated by my husband that New Year's Eve helped to completely turn around my perspective. He asked me just the right cocktail of reflective questions, and before I knew it, just in time for midnight, I was cheering the New Year. That, along with a teaching series on Happiness and Hope, culminated in helping me move forward to actively pursue more performance opportunities in 2015.

But I don't regret or scorn the earlier time of quiet searching and frustration, either. You know, the time when nothing you want to happen is happening. You see, during that time, God provided me an opportune environment to check my motivations--the "why" of my pursuits...the reason for my chase. And that season, albeit difficult, proved me and helped me acquire a solid focus on what matters most! Because everything else material and vain will burn up. It won't last. So I need to be fixed, fixated if you will, on a deeper mission.

By the end of 2015 and after about 20 shows, I had unique opportunities to use my voice in support of causes that are deeply resonant with me, like Addiction, Sickle Cell Anemia and Domestic Violence Awareness, to do a TV interview and live performance on FOX's Good Day Philadelphia during Domestic Violence Awareness month, and to meet and collaborate with other artists, friends and fans. Take a look back with me, in photo form (below)....

I leave you with this: Before you Resolve to do anything, check your Motivations!

Made it to the end of the post, huh? Well, here's a link to a FREE download for you! Cheers to flying in 2016!
